Herculaneum police arrest man who shoots at passing couple

A Festus man has been arrested by Herculaneum police for firing a gun at civilians.

23-year-old Christian Wayne Smith was detained and charged with felony discharge of a firearm from a motor vehicle.

Herculaneum police chief says they received a call just before 9 Wednesday evening.

Police were able to identify the vehicle Smith was in and tracked to Pevely, where they found Smith just after 1 Thursday morning.

Smith turned himself in to authorities.

He is awaiting transfer to the Jefferson County jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bond.
