(HERCULANEUM) In a game of “And-1’s” for Herculaneum, the Blackcats slipped past St. Pius 49-43 Wednesday night on AM 1400 KJFF.

It was Herky’s 3rd consecutive conference victory over the Lancers. With the Blackcats trailing 39-37 midway through the 4th, the “And-1’s” started pouring in from Josh Moreland and Blake Leathers.

The converted Moreland free throw gave Herky a 40-39 lead and the converted Leathers free throw extended it to 47-39. Blackcats head coach Jason Jarvis isn’t surprised by Moreland’s ability to finish at the rim.

The win puts Herculaneum’s record at 7-13 overall and 2-2 in the Small Schools Conference standings. The Blackcats will next face conference opponent Crystal City at home on Friday. The loss for the Lancers puts their record at 16-7 overall and 2-2 in the conference. St. Pius returns home on Friday to take on Jefferson at 7 p.m. on AM 1400 KJFF.
