Herculaneum volleyball hopes new head coach sets up winning formula

(Herculaneum) After a 4-14 campaign last season, the Herculaneum Blackcats are hoping for a fresh start.

That includes a new head coach in Nikki Coleman.

But her time as an assistant coach and fewer other extraneous circumstances has her feeling pretty comfortable settling in to the top job.

Herculaneum will have plenty of experienced hitters returning this year.

Senior Alexia Ashe could be an all-conference player after 77 kills, 14 blocks and 12 aces in 2020.

Sophomore setter Mackenzie Duncan can do more than just run the offense, and 6-foot junior middle blocker Macey Pilliard could be a force to be reckoned with.

Coleman is as excited as anyone about her front-line players.

So, with plenty of talent back and a new era dawning for the program, Coleman is optimistic, and that excitement carries over into her expectations for this season.

First serve of Herculaneum Blackcats volleyball in 2021 comes August 30th against Fredericktown.
