The Herculaneum Blackcat girls and Crystal City Hornet boys came away with victories in a doubleheader Friday on KJFF.
In the girls’ game, Herculaneum knocked off Crystal City 60-27.
The Blackcats were roaring at the start.
Herky lead 21-0 at the end of the first quarter and never looked back.
Blackcats head coach Riley Blair said his team turned early defense into offense.
Herculaneum improves to 13-9 and stays unbeaten in the JCAA Small-School Division, while Crystal City drops to 4-13.
The boys’ game was a tight-knit affair that saw the Hornets pull away and win 56-42.
Despite the Blackcats’ best efforts, they had no answer for senior guard Donovan Tullock.
The Applebee’s of Farmington Player of the Game hit 5 three-pointers and scored a game-high 31 points.
Hornets head coach Phil Tessereau said it’s great to have a closer like Tullock.
Crystal City wins for the eighth time in the last 11 games to improve to 9-10, while Herculaneum falls to 4-14.
