(CAPE GIRARDEAU) The St. Pius volleyball Lancers had to settle for 2nd place at state today as they fell in two sets to Hermann in the Class 2 Finals at the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau.
The Lancers couldn’t quite find their footing in the first set as the Hermann Bearcats kept their distance and won it 25-18. In the 2nd set though, the Lancers had life.

Hermann then reeled off 6 straight points to take a 14-10 lead, building us up to championship point.

Hermann wins its 2nd consecutive state title and 14th overall. The Lancers finish as the state runner-up for the 5th time in the last 10 years. Head Coach Shannon Leftridge reacts to taking 2nd place and also puts this season in perspective.
