HIgh Water Causes Life Of Lowndes Woman in Bollinger County

(Zalma) A 70-year-old woman is dead after driving her vehicle into flood water covering a road in Bollinger County over the weekend.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says it took place Saturday night on ‘H’ Highway, two miles north of Zalma at Perkins Creek when Debbie Barks of Lowndes drove her Ford Expedition into a flooded section of the road.

Barks was unable to escape the vehicle and drowned.

She was pronounced dead by Bollinger County Coroner Calvin Troxell.

This was the second drowning of the year for Troop ‘E’ of the highway patrol which covers Bollinger, Iron, Madison, Wayne and nine other counties to the southeast, including the bootheel region of the Show-Me State.
