Highway 67 improvement plans in Crystal City on hold

(Crystal City) Several street improvement projects in the area have been delayed or simply pushed back due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Many of those projects concern MODOT as they have been handcuffed with moving projects along as they have been restricted from in-person meetings with groups. Because of this, the planning stages of adding a turn lane along Highway 67 through Crystal City, has been on hold for some time. Crystal City City Administrator Jason Eisenbeis says MODOT needs to meet with the area property owners that will be affected by the changes.

Eisenbeis says once the project gets the green light, it will include a lot of stormwater replacement, which is greatly needed.

Eisenbeis was hopeful that the project could begin next year, but it may be pushed back to 2022. The idea was to widen Highway 67 and add a center turn lane to make the roadway safer for driving.
