Highway Patrol on Increased Patrols at the State Capitol

(Jefferson City) Law enforcement agencies across the country are on high alert at local state capitol buildings as well as other government buildings after the recent riots and the storming of Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. last week.

We asked Corporal Juston Wheetley with the Missouri State Highway Patrol if they have increased patrols at the state capitol.

There was some protesters at the state capitol building in Jefferson City last week; however, the protests remained peaceful and respectful.

Five people died in connection to the riots at the nation’s capitol.

One of the deaths was of U.S. Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick, who passed away following injuries suffered in the violent siege.

Three people died of medical emergencies, while a 35-year-old woman, Ashli Babbitt, was shot and killed by Capitol police while trying to enter a broken window into the House Chamber.
