(Jefferson County) In an effort to reduce traffic crashes involving lives lost during the holiday’s and to target aggressive drivers, including speeding, the Missouri State Highway Patrol will be partnering with the Illinois State Police.

Corporal Juston Wheetley with the patrol says the partnership will take effect the week of Thanksgiving.

Wheetley goes over some of the key factors on why Thanksgiving and even Christmas are the most deadliest holiday’s on Missouri roads.

9 people died in traffic crashes along with another 166 injuries on Missouri roads last year during the Thanksgiving holiday counting period.

This year’s holiday counting period begins at 6pm on November 25th and continues through 11:59pm on November 29th.
