(Poplar Bluff) Some highways in southeast Missouri are looking better thanks to the Missouri Department of Transportation and a couple days of sunshine.

Troop E of the Missouri State Highway Patrol includes the counties of Iron, Madison, Wayne, Bollinger and Cape Girardeau along with a few other counties farther south.

We talked with Sergeant Clark Parrott, he’s the public information officer with the highway patrol’s Troop E.

His coverage area actually saw more highway mishaps last week.

However, Sergeant Parrott asks motorists to keep their guard up.

Sergeant Parrott also says the lettered state highways could still be treacherous.

In a couple days, the big snow melt-off will begin. High temperatures are expected be in the 40’s Sunday and Monday. Tuesday and Wednesday of next week, we are expected to have highs in the 50’s.
