Highway patrol responds to multiple accidents in Jefferson County over the weekend

The Missouri State Highway Patrol was kept busy over the weekend responding to various traffic accidents in Jefferson County, especially on Sunday.

One such accident occurred on Sunday afternoon on southbound I-55 just south of Festus when two vehicle’s, a 2018 Chevy Malibu driven by 58-year-old Anna Mangin of Bloomsdale and a 2015 Harley Davidson Electric Glide driven by 63-year-old Norman Obermiller of Ste. Genevieve were travelling parallel to one another when Obermiller failed to observe Mangin and struck the right side of her vehicle.

As a result, Obermiller’s vehicle overturned and he was ejected.

Obermiller was transported by ambulance to Mercy Hospital South with serious injuries. The accident happened at 1:20 on Sunday afternoon.

One person was injured in a single vehicle accident on Hillsboro Victoria Road north of Cotter Road on Sunday afternoon.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports a 2000 Chevy Trailblazer driven by 33-year-old Allison Farmer of Hillsboro was travelling along Hillsboro Victoria Road when she exited the roadway to the right before striking an embankment and overturning.

Farmer was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital South with moderate injuries. Farmer was later charged with Driving While Intoxicated.

A Hillsboro man was seriously injured in a two vehicle crash on Sunday evening in Jefferson County.

According to the Missouri State highway Patrol a 2023 Ford Bronco driven by Christopher Whitter was driving on Old Highway 21 south of Moss Haven when he crossed the center line and struck the left side of a 2007 GMV Envoy driven by a 16-year-old female from Hillsboro.

As a result of the impact, Whitter’s vehicle travelled off the right side of the road, ejecting Whitter before the vehicle struck a rock bluff and overturned.

Whitter was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital South for treatment.

The accident happened around 9:20 on Sunday evening. Whitter was later charged with Driving While Intoxicated.
