Highway Patrol to have increased patrols through the July 4th holiday weekend

(Jefferson County) The Missouri State Highway Patrol will be participating in operation C.A.R.E. (Crash Awareness & Reduction Effort) and operation “Dry Water” over the July 4th holiday weekend.

Corporal Logan Bolton with the Missouri State Highway Patrol says they will have increased patrols through Independence Day.

Corporal Bolton adds the water patrol division will be active through the holiday weekend conducting operation “Dry Water” which specifically targets impaired vessel operators.

During last year’s 4th of July holiday counting period, 7 people were killed and 532 injured in more than 1,100 traffic crashes in Missouri.

On the water last year during the holiday period, 1 person died and 8 were injured in 12 boating crashes.

In addition 1 person drowned during the July 4th holiday.

The 2022 counting period for the July 4th holiday will begin at 6pm Friday through 11:59pm  on Monday.
