Highway Patrol Trooper Gives Tips For Motorists Travelling During the Winter Storm

(Potosi) Winter arrived Wednesday and today we are beginning to feel it with a major winter storm bearing down on the listening area.

Dangerous cold temperatures will be the main issue, along with a few inches of snow.

We spoke with Corporal Dallas Thompson with the Missouri State Highway Patrol about some things you can do in case you plan on doing some travelling during this Christmas weekend.

Corporal Thompson says blowing snow may pose a problem for motorists later today and possibly through Christmas Eve.

And the highway patrolman, who resides in Potosi, says it could be a while before many of our secondary roads get help from the Missouri Department of Transportation.

You can check current Missouri road conditions on the Traveler Information Map at modot.org or through MODOT’s smartphone apps.
