(Jefferson County) The Missouri State Highway Patrol will have all hands on deck now through the Independence Day holiday weekend.

Corporal Juston Wheetley with the highway patrol says the states Travel Safe, holiday counting period started on Thursday.

Corporal Wheetley says play it safe if you plan to be out and about this holiday weekend.

The highway patrol is also enforcing Operation C.A.R.E. (Crash Awareness & Reduction Effort) during the holiday period.

This means that every available trooper will be on the road enforcing traffic laws and assisting motorists.

The holiday counting period will continue until midnight on Sunday.
