(CAPE GIRARDEAU) One of the Class 4 District 1 football semifinals is tonight in Cape Girardeau as the Cape Central Tigers host the Hillsboro Hawks on AM 1400 KJFF.

The Tigers enter the match as the 2-seed with a 6-4 record while the Hawks have a 4-6 record as the 3-seed.

Hillsboro has been using a pair of freshmen running backs and a sophomore fullback and has been successful with that. Cape Central head coach Kent Gibbs knows that his guys must be prepared to stop them.

Hawks Head Coach Lee Freeman knows that this young group wasn’t expected to be here in this spot in the district semifinals but that’s what makes this season an impressive one.

Freshman running back Jaxin Patterson and junior Zach McNees offer their takes on the Tigers, with Jaxin going first.

This semifinal game between Hillsboro and Cape Central is a rematch of the 2017 district championship that Hillsboro won 36-28. Kickoff tonight from Cape Girardeau is scheduled for 7.
