(IMPERIAL) The Hillsboro Hawks and Windsor Owls have advanced to the Class 3 District 2 Softball Championship. Tonight on AM 1400 KJFF, the top-seeded Hawks defeated Festus 11-1 in 6 innings and the 2nd-seeded Owls beat St. Louis Notre Dame 10-6.

In the Hillsboro game, the two pivotal hits happened in what started as a scoreless 5th inning game in the bottom of the 5th and again in the bottom of the 6th. Bartlett had the big knock in the 5th.

Then it was Alanah Dunphy in the 6th with a bases-clearing double that brought in the final three runs of the game. Hawks Head Coach Kevin Lucas says that the 8-run 5th inning helped his team loosen up a bit.

Hillsboro improves to 19-9 on the season and has now reached its 3rd consecutive district championship game.

In the Windsor game, the Owls were down 2-0 in the bottom of the 1st when junior catcher Piper Montgomery went deep.

The real back-breaking swing came in the bottom of the 4th when sophomore Cierra Parker also went deep.

Owls Head Coach Wayne Montgomery couldn’t have been more amazed at the home runs from Montgomery and Parker.

The Owls improve to 12-13 and are back in a district championship game for the first time since 2016. Windsor and Hillsboro will now battle for the Class 3 District 2 crown tomorrow afternoon at 4:30 at Windsor High School.
