Hillsboro Beats Festus 60-56 in Overtime

(FESTUS) The Hillsboro Hawks and the Festus Tigers took another basketball game into overtime Friday night, with Hillsboro winning at Festus 60-54. The Tigers held a 36-34 lead at halftime and a five point lead at the end of the third quarter. The Hawks battled back in the 4th to tie the game at 54 appeice and send the game into overtime. Hillsboro outscored Festus 6-2 in the overtime period for the win. The game was broadcast on AM 1400 KJFF and mymoinfo.com.

The leading scorer for the Hawks was Dominic Sutton with 14 points. Leading the Tigers was Hayden Bates who scored 22 points.

Hillsboro head coach Brian Sucharski said the teams create a great atmosphere for high school basketball.

With the Hawks big man Greg Robinson in foul trouble by halftime, Sucharski says Festus put a lid on the Hawks transition game.

Luka Pool had 11 points in the game for the Hawks and more importantly he scored made two baskets in the overtime. Sucharski says Pool is an all around player for Hillsboro.

Festus and Hillsboro are scheduled to face each again on Monday February 12th at Hillsboro.

The Tigers are now (11-8) and they will host Windsor Friday February 9th. The Hawks improve to (11-5) and will host Cape Notre Dame (9-12) Tuesday night.
