Hillsboro Fire District purchasing land for future fire house

(Hillsboro) The Hillsboro Fire Protection District is officially purchasing an area of land on the Hillsboro R-3 School campus for the future site of a new firehouse. The land in which the fire district purchased, is on the piece of property the school district bought from Comtrea over the summer, known as Bridal Ridge. Hillsboro Fire Chief Brian Gaudet says he met with the Hillsboro Superintendent about the possibilities several months ago.

While Gaudet says the money for the land purchase is available, the price for the construction of a new firehouse it not. He says the Hillsboro Fire Protection District is asking for a tax increase issue in April.

The cost to purchase the land from the Hillsboro R-3 School District was 76-thousand 5-hundred dollars.
