Hillsboro fire keeping up with the increase in number of calls for service

(Hillsboro) Despite the continued increase in calls for service on an annual basis, the Hillsboro Fire Protection District is making due with what they have, albeit can be very challenging at times according to fire chief Brian Gaudet.

Chief Gaudet says they have applied for every grant they can possibly get and are attempting to get as much grant money for capital projects in order to keep their aging equipment up-to-date.

The Hillsboro Fire Protection District has went to its voters three times in the past two years with the most recent proposition falling in April with 53 percent of the vote against the measure.

Chief Gaudet says they are on track to reach more than 1330 calls for service this year which would be a 4 to 5 percent increase from 2021.
