Hillsboro Fire Protection District Remains busy with increase in calls for service

(Hillsboro) The Hillsboro Fire Protection District, like many fire agencies in and around Jefferson County, have been rather busy this time of year dealing with brush fires and the increase in calls for service.

Hillsboro fire Chief Brian Gaudet says his department battled a decent sized brush fire on Tuesday afternoon.

The fire remained below a first alarm and the blaze was extinguished rather quickly.

According to Chief Gaudet the firehouse received a few calls about the smoke in the area.

Other than battling fires, the Hillsboro Fire Protection District has responded to multiple accidents involving injuries in the past month.

The department is close to 1200 calls for service so far this year.
