(HILLSBORO) The Hillsboro volleyball team is on fire as the Hawks have reeled off 8 wins in a row.

During the streak, the Hawks have picked up victories over Jefferson R-7, Festus, Seckman, Sullivan and others. Maybe most significantly are the wins over Festus, one of which was in 3 sets last Monday, and the other in 2 sets during the Karen Biehle Invitational Championship this past weekend.

Leading the way all season has been junior Kenzie Baker who receives a raving review from Head Coach Erin Boss.

Baker leads the Hawks in service points, kills, and blocks, while also being 2nd on the team in digs. Others that receive high praise from Coach Boss are juniors Evelyn Roland and Sophia Marchetti.

Roland leads the team in attack assists while Marchetti is 2nd in kills.

Coach Boss is also very fond of her two seniors, Grace Ringling, who has come back from a knee injury during the Select season, and Heather Ripperger.

Ringling is 2nd on the team in blocks and Ripperger is tops on the team in digs with 405.

There are five matches between now and districts at the end of the month. In order for Coach Boss to feel good about the team’s chances in the district tournament, she wants to see more consistency.

The Hawks volleyball team has Pacific on Wednesday at 6:15 p.m. and then finish out the season over the next two weeks with Jefferson R-7, Lindbergh, St. Pius, and St. Clair. The Hawks are currently 14-10-1.
