(HILLSBORO) A pair of Jefferson County Large Schools meet in Hillsboro Tuesday night on AM 1400 KJFF as the DeSoto Dragons take on the rival Hawks.

DeSoto hasn’t played since Clayton Snudden beat the buzzer against Festus on the 18th to give the Dragons a dramatic 56-54 victory. Head coach Zeb Hammond says the long layoff has given the team a chance to get healthy and that his guys are ready to bring the intensity.

From a strategic standpoint, coach Hammond believes that making things tough for Hillsboro forward Michael Brewer is a good start.

Hillsboro too has had a lengthy layoff with its last game being a 53-42 win over Oakville exactly a week ago. Head coach Dan Johnson says his guys are anxious to get back on the floor and face a tough conference rival.

Coach Johnson adds that the team’s focus should also be to not beat themselves up by playing carelessly.

This will be the first Large Schools conference game for Hillsboro this season and it will be DeSoto’s 3rd. The Hawks are 15-4 overall and the Dragons are 10-12 overall with a 1-1 conference record.

DeSoto and Hillsboro are scheduled for a 7 p.m. tip Tuesday with the Flieg’s Equipment Pregame Show at 6:45 on AM 1400 KJFF.
