Hillsboro hosts Windsor, Festus faces Northwest as Steighorst Invite on KJFF rolls on

(Hillsboro) The Gene Steighorst Invitational rolls on with consolation bracket action Wednesday on KJFF.

The Windsor Owls face the host Hillsboro Hawks and the Northwest Lions battle the Festus Tigers.

JCAA rivals collide in the first game, as Windsor will look to bounce back from falling to 2-2 on the young season.

Senior guard Sonny Amabile had 19 points in the loss to Central, but Owls head coach Ryan McArthy says his team is at its best when everyone else chips in.

Hillsboro rallied after finding itself down double digits to DeSoto in the fourth quarter, but they ultimately could not complete a comeback and fell to 1-3.

Hawks head coach Dan Johnson says sophomore Noah Holland, who scored a team-high 17 points in the loss, is the key to their offense.

The second game of the night also features teams trying to recover from disappointing losses.

In Festus’ case, Tigers head coach Jason Therrell feels it starts with a better game plan.

Northwest fell to 0-2 after the quarterfinal loss to Eureka.

Coverage begins Wednesday afternoon with another special edition of KJFF Sports Talk live from Hillsboro at 4, followed by the Flieg’s Equipment Pregame Show at 4:45 on AM 1400 KJFF.
