(HILLSBORO) The Hillsboro Hawks boys soccer team is 11-3-1 so far this year which is the best record in Jefferson County. The Hawks have played some challenging opponents such as SLUH, Pacific, Kirksville, Perryville, and Fredericktown. One of the bigger wins came against 11-1 Kirksville during the Camdenton Tournament this past weekend in which the Hawks beat them 2-0.

Head coach Chris Schacht thought his group played quite the gem of a game.

Coach Schacht says his guys show up every day with a winning attitude and its that aspect of the team and the inner drive they possess that has them where they are now.

In the last couple of years, the Hawks have fallen to the Windsor Owls in the Class 3 District 2 championship game. With Windsor having a down year and Festus and DeSoto currently playing .500 soccer, the door could be open for the Hawks to win districts for the first time since 2016.

Coach Schacht responded to being asked if his team at this point in the season is good enough to win state.

The Hawks have 7 more matches before districts start in November including Thursday at 4 p.m. at St. Pius who is 5-8-1.
