Hillsboro names Schacht new athletic director

Hillsboro High School has found a new athletic director.

Longtime Hawks soccer coach Chris Schacht has accepted the position after the board of education confirmed the appointment Thursday night.

Schaat says, while he wasn’t seeking out a new job, he gets one that is right in his comfort zone.

Schacht has been teaching and coaching soccer at HHS since 1998.

But he says he wants to continue playing a hand in the standard of athletic excellence that pervades all of Hillsboro sports.

Eddie Moreno had previously been A.D. before resigning earlier this year.

Schacht will step aside from coaching soccer.

He led Hillsboro to a Class 3 District 2 championship and an appearance in the state quarterfinals this past fall.
