Hillsboro softball seeking more titles in 2020

(Hillsboro) There’s been a lot of success for the Hillsboro Hawks on the softball diamond the last few years, and there are high hopes again in 2020.

Fresh off 20 wins and a district championship last season, head coach Kevin Lucas says he’s got most of his best players back.

While there will be plenty of pop in the lineup with the return of seniors Alanah Dunphy and Elizabeth Bartlett, Lucas says it’s also huge that junior pitcher Elly Eckrich will be back.

But while Hillsboro looks to bring home more hardware, Lucas says a pandemic in the background means his team should take advantage of every opportunity it has.

Hillsboro starts the 2020 fall softball season at the Sullivan Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
