(FESTUS) Tonight on AM 1400 KJFF, the Hillsboro volleyball Hawks rallied for a 2-sets-to-1 victory over the Lancers on Senior Night at St. Pius.

The Lancers had the first true rally of the night, fighting off a couple of four-point deficits before taking the set 25-23.

A kill shot from Hillsboro’s Evelyn Roland into the net secured the set for St. Pius.

In the 2nd set, the Hawks reeled off seven straight points to take a 12-3 lead that they wouldn’t relinquish, winning the set 25-20.

With the Hawks up 24-17 in the 3rd and decisive set, Molly Bange of St. Pius tried to keep the match going.

Hillsboro Head Coach Erin Boss thought that her girls showed great resolve and were really invested in getting the win.

The Hillsboro Hawks improve to 17-11-1 and have one final regular season match and it’s at St. Clair on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. St. Pius falls to 18-3-2 and won’t play again until the semifinals of the Class 2 District 4 Tournament next Wednesday against the winner of Grandview and Carnahan. The Lancers are the one-seed and get a first-round bye.
