The Hillsboro Hawks have advanced to the Class 3 state quarterfinals in boys soccer for the first time in school history.

The Hawks knocked off North County 3-1 in sectionals Wednesday evening in Bonne Terre.

Hillsboro got in front in the 27th minute thanks to a senior on the Gilster Mary Lee Goal of the Game.

The Hawks started to dominate possession from there and got an opportunity when North County was called for a handball in the goal box in the 39th minute.

It seemed Hillsboro was going to head into halftime with all the momentum.
But the Raiders responded.

Despite their lead being cut in half at the half, Hillsboro continued to control the game in the second half.
The Hawks put the game away in the second half with the Serentiy Hospice Care Play of the Game.

Bridges was named Applebee’s Player of the Game after leading the defense and scoring a goal.
While North County’s season ends at 15-8, Hillsboro improves to 19-5-1.
The Hawks will host the Class 3 state quarterfinals against either Webster Groves or Ladue Saturday afternoon.
