(HILLSBORO) Hillsboro Hawks pitcher and infielder Emma Nichols earned Softball Player of the Year after making the Dream Team for the 4th time in her high school career. The award gives Hillsboro it’s 2nd consecutive Player of the Year in softball after Carlie Sanders got it last year.

Nichols put up excellent offensive stats in her senior campaign that included a .560 batting average, 10 home runs, 46 RBI’s and a 1,000-plus slugging percentage. In pitching, Nichols tossed 133.2 innings with 120 strikeouts, a 1.83 earned run average and an 11-4 win-loss record.

Numbers aside, it was the trip to the Class 3 State Tournament in Springfield that Nichols will cherish forever.

Now that her senior year is over with, Nichols is headed to Mizzou to continue playing softball. She says that it’s a dream come true.

Besides making Dream Team all four years, Emma Nichols was an All-Conference, All-District and All-Region selection every year at Hillsboro. She also earned a Class 3 All-State 2nd-team selection her junior year and a Class 3 All-State 1st-team selection her senior year.
