(HILLSBORO) Hillsboro outfielder Kelsey Boyd is once again a Dream Team athlete after slashing .456 this past season with 8 home runs and 34 RBI’s for the softball Hawks. As a senior, Boyd played a major role in the team reaching the Class 3 State Tournament and finishing 4th, which is something that she truly appreciates being able to do.

Boyd will be furthering her softball career at Jefferson College under Tony Cook. During the fall season at Jeff Co, the Vikings will be playing Mizzou. That will potentially give Boyd the chance to face her Hillsboro teammate Emma Nichols, who will be playing for the Tigers. Boyd and Nichols have already chatted about it.

The bigger question here is not if Boyd is aiming to hit a home run off of Nichols, but whether or not she’ll do a little trash-talking afterward if she does.

During her time at Hillsboro, Boyd and the 2017 Hawks hit 52 home runs, a state record for most home runs by a team in a single season. As a senior, Boyd made 1st-team All-Conference, All-District, All-Region, and 2nd-team All-State. For her 3-year varsity career, Kelsey Boyd finished with 24 home runs and 104 RBI’s.
