Hillsboro’s Morris adds Dream Team to wrestling state title

(Hillsboro) Only a few wrestlers from the area climbed to the top of their sport this season, but one that shined bright is Evan Morris.

The Hillsboro Hawks junior makes the Regional Radio Dream Team for the first time after bringing home the Class 3 state championship at 152 pounds.

Morris describes what his state title bout was like.

After making the state tournament each of his first two seasons, Morris raised his game to another level.

He went 40-9 this winter and won a district title.

Morris says it’s hard not to get better when you practice every day with 3 other Dream Team wrestlers and a team that finished second in Class 3.

But, while there’s plenty of people to thank for a monumental season, Morris also credits his faith.

Morris is the second Hillsboro wrestler to win a state title in the last 3 years, joining junior classmate Gavin Alexander.

He is one of 3 wrestlers from Jefferson County to win a state title in 2022.
