(Hillsboro) If you want to see a story of great perseverance, take a look at Kyle Phipps.

Phipps exploded in his final season, pouring in better than 21 points per game to lead the JCAA Large-School Division in scoring and shooting.

But even he’s taken aback by the honors he’s receiving.

After only averaging 4.5 points as a junior, Phipps showed that he is an electrifying shooter.

His senior season saw him knocking down 53 percent of his shots and 43% of his 3-pointers.

He says he just wanted take advantage of his last chance on the high school hardwood.

And there are plenty of people Phipps thanks for being there for every step of his journey.

Phipps set the single-game school scoring record by pouring in 41 points on his Senior Night against the Perryville Pirates.
