(FESTUS, Mo.,) A rivalry game with the spotlight on the St. Pius Lancers and Crystal City Hornets as St. Pius celebrates senior night and homecoming with a visit from their cross-town foes the Crystal City Hornets.

The Lancers (3-4, 2-1) are coming off of a big 61-25 win over the St. Vincent Indians in a conference game last Friday. It was their second win over the course of their last three games beating Herculanuem as well.+++

St. Pius head coach Jerry Woods said the effort of the Hornets stands out and it’s always good to have a rivalry game…+++

+++

Junior Jalen Thornton is the most dynamic athlete for the Lancers and leads this team in receiving, touchdowns, and even does it defensively registering the most interceptions on the team. Thornton can do it all for St. Pius…+++

+++

Meanwhile, the Hornets (0-7, 0-4) have struggled this year, but have showed signs of improvement from their young players along the way. Crystal City plays with less than 20 players usually and have just one senior with football playing experience in Chris Eisenbeis.+++

Head coach Terry Crump has spoke highly of the quickness of the Lancers…+++

+++

Eisenbeis has been the key player for the Hornets this season. Eisenbeis has thrown for over 800 yards and three touchdowns this year completing 45 percent of his passes. He is also the leading rusher with 289 yards and four touchdowns. Offense isn’t all he does, as he plays middle linebacker and has registered 83 total tackles, a fumble recovery, interception, two tackles for a loss, and an interception.+++

He has earned nothing but praise from the coaching staff for his contributions…+++

+++

Last year, the Lancers prevailed 21-14 at Crystal City and they have won the last four meetings with Crystal City last winning 14-7 back in 2012.+++

It’s the Lancers and Hornets as St. Pius celebartes homecoming and senior night at St. Pius X High School against the Crystal City Hornets. The Flieg’s Equipment Pregame Show will begin at 6 p.m., with kickoff slated for seven p.m., on 1400 AM KJFF with online streaming at mymoinfo.com.
