Hoops for Hope’s Bill Hammock Talks About the Event Tonight on KJFF

(FESTUS) The 6th Annual Hoops for Hope Classic at Jefferson R-7 is tonight on AM 1400 KJFF. It will involve the Grandview and Jefferson varsity basketball girls and the Grandview and Jefferson varsity basketball boys going head-to-head.

Hoops for Hope creators Bill and wife Andrea Hammock designed this event to raise money for families within the R-7 community who have a family member dealing with an illness or cancer or some other type of ailment.

Over the weekend, we aired a story about one of the families receiving benefits from the Hoops for Hope event, the Bates family. It includes Matt Bates, husband of the recently deceased Renee Bates, and their 15-year-old daughter, Amanda.

The other family is the Becky Husky family. Bill Hammock tells her story.

During the Hoops for Hope event, there will not only be basketball games but also raffle prizes and a silent auction to raise money for the Bates and Husky families. Last year, there was a raffle for a single Vladimir Tarasenko St. Louis Blues jersey. This year, Bill Hammock has a surprise.

Bill wants to really drive home that this is a community-oriented cause and that he hopes to see everyone at the games tonight. For more information on the Bates and Husky families along with the raffle and silent auction items, listen to the rest of the conversation with Bill Hammock at the bottom of this story. The presentation of the checks to the families will occur between varsity games at approximately 7:15 at Jefferson R-7 High School.
