House Springs Man Injured after being Struck by Stolen Vehicle in Jefferson County

(Jefferson County) A House Springs man was seriously injured when he was hit by one or two vehicles Wednesday evening in the 8400 block of Local Hillsboro Road in Cedar Hill.

Grant Bissell is the Public Safety Information Coordinator for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

He says the incident occurred around 8:40pm on Wednesday when a white Dodge Dart pulled into the parking lot of the Motomart Gas Station in Cedar Hill.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol took over the investigation of the pedestrian hit and run.

According to the patrol, 30-year-old Joseph Bates was running north towards east Highway 30 from the Motomart Gas Station when he was struck by at least one if not both of the stolen vehicles.

Bates suffered serious injuries and was transported by Big River Ambulance to Mercy South for treatment.

According to Bissell, after the hit and run incident deputies spotted both stolen vehicles heading eastbound on Highway 30.

That’s when deputies initiated a vehicle pursuit.

The stolen black Saturn was able to get away and investigators continue to work on tracking that person down.

The suspect arrested is a 27-year-old man from St. Louis.
