“Phenom” is truly the best word to describe Potosi softball freshman Sami Huck, who earned all-state honors in helping the Trojans to their best season in school history and is now a 2019 Regional Radio Dream Team member.

Huck was one of the state’s top ace pitchers in spring softball with a 8-1 record, a 1.49 ERA and 94 strikeouts. Yet Huck says she was a little shocked by the Dream Team selection.

Huck was also one of many young Trojans who were explosive at the plate, batting .556 with 30 runs scored and 36 RBIs.
Despite the abundance of youth for Potosi with just 2 seniors on the roster, Huck says she and her teammates knew they could be special.

The Trojans were indeed special, spending most of the year ranked number one in the state and winning their first ever district title.

Potosi nearly played for it all but lost a classic in the state semifinals to Lincoln, and even after a win the next day, Huck says she was already thinking about next year.

Huck is playing with a traveling team this spring and will do so again in the fall. To hear the full Dream Team interview with Sami Huck, click play on the audio below.
