(Palmer/Cruise Mill) An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday to hopefully determine the identity of a body found Sunday afternoon in Washington County in a Highway 21 road ditch not far from the Highway 47 junction.

Washington County Coroner Steve Hatfield says he’s trying to determine the cause of death of this individual and another body that was recently found in the woods near Hazel Creek Campground, located between the small communities of Palmer and Brazil.

Coroner Hatfield also tells Regional Radio remains of an individual was just discovered Tuesday in St. Francois County.

At the moment, we have no other information about that discovery.

We did attempt to contact Sheriff Zach Jacobsen and his chief deputy with the Washington County Sheriff’s Department but at this time, neither have returned our calls.
