I-55 Festus area traffic issues

(Festus) Congestion along I-55 southbound during the afternoon rush hour has been problematic for some time now. One of the major problem areas is between the Highway A exit and the interchange to Highway 67 south. Captain Doug Wendel with the Festus Police Department says traffic will consistently get backed up in the afternoons, however, help is coming soon.

MODOT has scheduled to add a southbound auxiliary lane from Route A to Route 67 to help alleviate the congestion. The road work will begin in the spring of next year.
