I-55 Football Conference Dissolves, Schools Form New Group Without St. Pius
(FESTUS)    The dust has yet to settle in regards of St. Pius X High School’s removal from the Jefferson County Athletic Association as St. Pius was recently notified the I-55 Football Conference has effectively dissolved.
On March 6th, eight school districts voted to amend the JCAA constitution, which in effect removed St. Pius from the conference.
St. Pius X President Jim Lehn says he was notified in a letter dated March 13th from Dunklin Superintendent Dr. Clint Freeman, the head of the Jefferson County Superintendent’s group that the school districts of Dunklin R-5, Grandview R-2, Jefferson R-7,Perry County #32 and St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Schools in Perryville have all removed themselves from the I-55 Football Conference.

Those schools along with Cuba will reportedly form a new conference entitled the “Quad County Conference”.
Tuesday morning during the “St. Pius X High School Report” on KJFF, President Jim Lehn  and Principal Karen De Costy commented on the latest proceedings.  Lehn says St. Pius will continue to move forward and compete in sports with 24 athletic teams and activities.

According to Lehn, St. Pius will consider their options during the upcoming year.

It isn’t known at this time which districts will continue to schedule games with St. Pius.
