Ian Brown Throws Complete Game Shutout In Class 5 Semifinal To Put Festus Back In The Title Game

(Ozark) The Festus Tigers baseball team advanced to the Class 5 state championship game in Ozark for the second year in a row with 2-0 victory in the semifinal Friday morning over Fort Zumwalt South. We broadcast the game on AM 1400 KJFF and mymoinfo.com.

After two scoreless innings, the Tigers got the first run of the game on a force play.

A short time later, Festus scored on a passed ball to make it 2-0.

Ian Brown threw the complete game shutout. He gave up seven hits with 8 strikeouts and one walk. The Tigers got outhit 7-5.

The Tigers improved to 26-8 and avenged two regular season losses to the Bulldogs. The Tigers lost to the Bulldogs twice on March 25th by the scores of 3-1 and 7-5.

Festus coach Jeff Montgomery thinks the Tigers have enough pitching left for the title game…

Festus will play the winner of St. Francois Borgia and Webb City for the championship Saturday afternoon at 1:00. Festus is competing in its 5th final four in baseball. They are looking for their first championship. They have finished 2nd twice including last year.
