(Jefferson County) The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has released its week 25 health update.
The good news, Jefferson County remains in yellow status for daily COVID-19 cases.
The bad news, the number of daily coronavirus cases is back on the increase in the county.
Jefferson County Health Department spokeswoman Brianne Zwiener has more details on the latest update.
The national media has spotlighted Missouri as being the epicenter of the highly contagious COVID-19 Delta variant. We asked Zwiener if there has been any confirmed cases of the variant reported in Jefferson County.
It’s said that of the people hospitalized due to the Delta variant, 98 percent were unvaccinated. So far more than 29 percent of Jefferson County residents have been fully vaccinated.
As of Thursday in Jefferson County, 15 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported.
This brings the total number of cases to 24,050 since March of last year. 127 cases are currently active in the county. The death toll in the county is at 254.
