(Potosi/Bonne Terre) Two inmates from local prisons have died recently.

The first death took place at the Potosi prison on September 5th.

67-year-old Kevin Kiger had been serving a life sentence for 1st degree murder from St. Louis County.

He had been in prison since January of 1979.

The Missouri Department of Corrections says Kiger died from “apparent natural causes”.

In the area prison death, an inmate from the Bonne Terre prison died Wednesday after he had being taken to Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City.

68-year-old Tommy Jones had been serving a 5-year sentence for 2nd degree burglary out of Mississippi County.

Jones was just put in prison this year on June 15th.

The Missouri Department of Corrections says Jones died of “apparent natural causes”.
