Jahmeshia Patterson, Festus Track Speedster is Athlete of the Week

(FESTUS) Jahmeshia Patterson a freshman on the Festus girls track and field team is this week’s Regional Radio/Applebee’s of Farmington Athlete of the Week. At the recent JCAA Conference Track Meet, Patterson was named the conference MVP after scoring 36 points. She won the 100m dash, and her time was good enough to break a 30-plus-year-old conference record in the event. Patterson also took first in the 200m dash and finished second in both the 100m hurdles and long jump.

Patterson says the 100 meter dash is her favorite event, she adds she tries to block out distractions while concentrating on running fast.

According to Patterson, there are no jealousies on the team and she believes the squad can have success at the district and state meets.

For being named Athlete of the Week, Jahmeshia Patterson received a t-shirt, certificate, and a voucher for a free entree at Applebee’s of Farmington.
