Jason McMurry Takes Over As Lesterville High School Athletic Director

(Lesterville) Lesterville High School has hired Jason McMurry to take over as Athletic Director and head coach of the boys basketball team.

Betsy Middleton retired from her position as Athletic Director and head volleyball coach after last school year. Jason St. Gemme stepped in to coach the boys basketball team last season.

McMurry comes from South Iron High School where he was an assistant coach on the three-time state champion boys basketball team. McMurry tells us how he got into talks with Lesterville.

McMurry tells us about his coaching history.

McMurry says he got in a lot of work with the basketball team this summer.

Lesterville only won 10 games over the last three seasons but they’ve been successful historically. The Bearcats won 57 games from 2018 to 2020 and captured a Class One state title back in 1977 under head coach Billy Joe Martin.

McMurry tells us about the values he hopes to bring to the Reynolds County high school.

Lesterville High School also fields a girls basketball team and baseball team along with boys basketball and volleyball. McMurry is excited lead those programs as the Athletic Director.

McMurry wanted to give thanks to those that have supported him along the way. First and foremost, his wife, Penny.

McMurry has a son, Champ, who is entering his sophomore year at Evangel University and is a member of the golf team, and a daughter, Taylor.
