JCGA Jefferson County Legislative Forum (full audio)

(Hillsboro) Several Jefferson County area state legislators took part in the Legislative Forum at Jefferson College Thursday. The event was sponsored by the Jefferson County Growth Association. One of the speakers was 118th District State Representative Mike McGirl of Potosi. He says he was able to get a bill passed that will significantly help the city of Hillsboro when it comes to the special road district route that goes through town. He says the bill gets the city the funding needed to maintain it better in the future and going forward.

Due to the changing of the House District lines, McGirl’s district will be taken out of Jefferson County and now include a portion of Franklin County. Those new boundary lines go into effect next year.

Also, 115th District State Representative Cindy Buchheit-Courtway of Festus spoke to the crowd. She says one of her bills that passed concerns better internet connectivity for rural areas of the entire state.

State Senators Paul Wieland and Elaine Gannon, as well as State Representative Dan Shaul all spoke at the event, as well as Representatives with U.S. Congressmen Blaine Luetkemeyer and Jason Smith, and U.S. Senators Roy Blunt and Josh Hawley. The event was carried live on 1400 KJFF and can be found online at MYMOINFO dot com.
