JCGA Legislative Forum recap

(Hillsboro) The annual Jefferson County Growth Association Legislative Forum was held Thursday at Jefferson College in Hillsboro. One of the many state legislators that attended was State Senator Elaine Gannon of DeSoto. Gannon spoke of one of her bills that extends postpartum medical coverage for women.

State Representative David Casteel of High Ridge was one of five new members of the House from Jefferson County. He was able to file a bill to help with better funding for the Jefferson County 911 Dispatch Board. Casteel says funding changed with the times and was adjusted several years ago.

Casteel says a bill that passed a few years ago took some of that funding mechanism away, which was an oversight that needed correction.

The funding for the Jefferson County 911 Dispatch Board was passed by the senate by being attached to an amendment and is awaiting the approval of Governor Parson. Other State Representatives that attended the forum include Cindy-Buchheit-Courtway, Phil Amato, Renee Reuter, and Ken Waller. There were also representatives from Congressmen Blaine Luetkemeyer and Jason Smith, and from Senators Josh Hawley, and Eric Schmidt.
