JCHD clinics continue while positive covid cases continue to drop

(Hillsboro) The Jefferson County Health Department continues to hold Covid-19 vaccination clinics, but they are starting to offer a different option for the public. Health Department Director Kelley Vollmar says they rolled out their first drive-thru clinic at the Hillsboro Civic Club yesterday (Tuesday).

Vollmar says they are planning on doing additional drive-thru clinics in the near future.

There will be another vaccination clinic at the Festus location today (Wednesday), and walk-ins will be accepted. On Thursday, the vaccination in Festus will only be a second dose clinic for those that received the first dose on April 1st.

Vollmar says while the positive Covid-19 cases have been dropping, there are additional concerns.

Today (Wednesday), the JCHD was notified of 22 new positive cases for Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) in the county. This brings the total number of positive cases to 23,161 in Jefferson County. Of those 23,161, 143 are active, with 23,018 recoveries, and 240 deaths. 1,344 of those positive cases have been at long-term care facilities.
