JCSO Arrests A Man After Committing Several Serious Crimes

(BARNHART, HILLSBORO) Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies made an arrest of a man who faces several charges of serious crimes in two counties. The events unfolded on Friday evening, as the man identified as 33-year-old Steven Deering, who does not have an official living address, arrived at a home in the 6500 block of Haven Hill in Barnhart. Deering was talking with an older gentleman who lived at the home. After a short period of time, the homeowner was feeling uncomfortable due to how Deering was acting. Meanwhile, his wife arrived at the home, and while the male homeowner went inside to call law enforcement officials, things began to evolve according to Sheriff’s Office Spokesman Grant Bissell…

Bissell says Corporal Gearon, who is a member of the SWAT team, arrived on the scene and brought the situation to a safe ending.

Deering is also wanted for a serious assault and car theft from the City of Maplewood in St. Louis County before the crimes were committed in Jefferson County.

Deering faces charges of Vehicle Hijacking-Serious Physical /Deadly Weapon/Dangerous Instrument/Vulnerable Person, three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child Creating Substantial Risk-1st Degree, Assault -3rd Degree-Special Victim, Tampering with a Motor Vehicle-1st Degree and two counts of Burglary 1st Degree. Deering is being held in the Jefferson County Jail on a $150,000 cash-only bond. He also faces several serious charges from the incident in Maplewood.
