JCSO to get grant to help with DWI enforcement

(Hillsboro) The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office will soon be receiving a federal grant to help with the costs of adding an additional member to their DWI Enforcement Unit. Sheriff Dave Marshak says it’s needed with a rise in DWI arrests.
Sheriff Marshak says since DWI checkpoints are a thing of the past, this grant will help by adding an additional officer on the roads.
Sheriff Marshak says many law enforcement agencies cut back on the number of patrolling officers at a given time, and it resulted in drivers going too fast and taking more risks.
A week ago, a statewide Speed Enforcement Campaign sponsored by MODOT was held. It’s very likely more of these will take place in the future.
