JCSO trying to prevent additional sex crimes

(Hillsboro) The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office continues to raise awareness of sex crimes against children and how to attempt to prevent those situations from happening. Detective Scott Woodward is part of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. He says preventing these types of crimes from taking place starts with how closely parents are watching their children.

Detective Woodward says there are other resources that could help children avoid turning themselves into victims.

Many of these crimes can be difficult to solve in a quick manner when it comes to finding evidence due to accessing and unlocking mobile phones. However many law enforcement agencies have been increasing the number of personnel assigned to investigate these types of crimes. There are very good resources and technology to unlock phones and computers, but the software is very costly.
